A Short Story of the Tai Chi taught by Green Plum Tai Chi
What interested me was the way Wu style Tai Chi is taught. The system ensures each form stays almost the same when taught by different teachers. This is the unique side of the Square Form and the Round Form. Wu Style Tai Chi is also the foundation Style of The Hong Kong Tai Chi Association which was set up by the HK Government in conjunction with Sifu Cheng Tin Hung. The Association was formed to provide in the Hong Kong Community Tai Chi Chuan teachers of an approved high standard that could teach in the parks and gardens of Hong Kong. All other styles (Yang, Chen, Hao) are now part of the HK Association. Cheng Tin Hung was taught principally from two well know historical practitioners of Tai Chi Chuan. Cheng Wing Kwong and Qi Min Xuan. Cheng Wing Kwong was taught by the founder of Wu Style, Wu Jian Chuen. My teacher was Sifu Edward Ho who was taught by Cheng Tin Hung. |
Cheng Tin Hung
The style is derived from Cheng Tin Hung who founded the Hong Kong Tai Chi Association. Cheng passed away in 2005 and this website gives a short history of him by Dan Dougherty
